Swipii is a digital loyalty platform which does away with antiquated punch cards to help retailers reward customers whilst gathering valuable data about them, providing the power of systems such as Tesco’s Clubcard to local independent businesses. Merchants place an iPad and Swipii cards at the point of sale, facing the customer, who can then sign up and start collecting points using one card for multiple participating stores.
How they’re disrupting
The Swipii solution provides the retailer a loyalty scheme that is easy to set up, and shoppers one card rather than dozens of paper loyalty cards that end up lost, tatty or unused. Retailer packages include multichannel campaigns which can be used to bring back customers who have not visited in a while, attract different demographics at different times, sell off old stock or alert customers to events and promotions.
In the UK alone over 90% of customers regularly use loyalty cards.
Investments and future
Swipii raised a seed round from angel investor Ronnie Somerville back in 2014, closed an undisclosed funding round in September 2015, and is now closing a round of £1.4 million in May 2016. The company headquarters remain in Glasgow, but there are now offices in London and Copenhagen ahead of the launch of a Swipii franchise in Scandinavia. The company now has over 230,000 end users across 600 locations, making it the fastest growing retail solution for independent retailers in the UK.
