Bragi’s earphones, ‘The Dash’ are cable-free bluetooth smart headphones, contain 23 sensors inside which track activity and heart rate, and respond to gestures. User’s can make and receive calls, track and record fitness data via the companion app or simply listen to music.
How they’re disrupting
An audio transparency feature in the Dash amplifies the sounds of the surrounding ambient environment when switched on, providing the option to listen and converse without removing the earbuds. Also the Dash capsule houses and charges your earbuds when not in use – by placing the earbuds in the capsule to charge automatically. Furthermore, The Dash is water resistant up to 1 meter and allows users to listen to music underwater completely wireless thanks to its 4GB internal storage.
The earphones & headphones market predicted to be worth $17.55 Billion by 2022.
Investments and future
The Dash featured on crowdfunding website Kickstarter, where it generated $3.4m in investment from backers. The company also received a $22m venture investment from a group of anonymous American, European and Asian investors in November 2015. The Dash currently doesn’t use all of the sensors integrated into the earbuds but hope to continue to develop their software to fine tune the product, turning on new features and improving the experience via updates.
